ACT ONE
MINSTREL 1: Dear friends, the play we are about to watch is the story the sleeping prince.
MINSTREL 2: The King and queen of this kingdom had pretty daughters but they wanted a son.
MINSTREL 3: After many prayers their wish was granted the King and the Queen were very proud of their son and sent an invitation to all the wizards of the kingdom to come and bless him with many wishes.
KING:I have called all the wizards of my kingdom here today to introduce you to my fourth child and your future king ¡Prince Richard!

Wizard 2: He will be fair and honest.
Wizard 3: He will be kind and affectivate.
Wizard 4: He will be intelligent.
Wizard 5: He will be handsome and elegant.

DARK WIZARD: What's the matter your majesties, weren't you going to introduce me to the crown prince? NO, don't say anything. I will never forgive your insult and you will pay dearly for it.

WIZARD 7: Don't worry your majesties. I still haven't made my wish. The prince won't die he will sleep for one hundred years. The spell will be broken when he is kissed by a beautiful princess.
KING: Get rid of all the books and encyclopedias in my Kingdom. Burn them!
VASSAL: But your majesty, the lack of education will bring misery to the Kingdom.

KING: No, buts about it! I have said that all the books should be destroyed and nthat's what will happen! Not only in the palace, but all over the Kingdom. The life of a prince is more important than all the books in the world!
PRINCESS 1: Oh no, please, daddy I love reading!
PRINCESS 2: Are you sure dad? Books are very important for me!
PRINCESS 3: Daddy, can I keep the story book you gave me for my birthday?
KING: No way! I won't have a single book in my Kingdom!
ALL: Yes, your majesty!
ACT TWO
MINSTREL 4: Well, yes my friends, there wasn't a single book in the Kingdom, big or small.
MINSTREL 1: Yes, I know but you want to know what happened to Prince Richard, Don't you?
MINSTREL 2: The years passed and the prince grew into a handsome and elegant man.
MINSTREL 3: Everyone seemed to have forgotten about the fatal wish of the Dark wizard.
MINSTREL 4: Look! He is eighteen today!
MINSTREL 1: Yes, and while he was walking in the garden, he found an opened door and went into to have a look.
RICHARD: Good morning, old man, what are you doing here? I didn't know this place existed.
DARK WIZARD: Good morning, young prince. There are lots of thngs you don't know: today's your birthday, isn't it?
RICHARD: Yes, it is.
DARK WIZARD: Today is my day!
RICHARD: Did you say something?
DARK WIZARD: Nothing, nothing, your majesty.
RICHARD: Oh, right! What strange things you have got here! What are they?
DARK WIZARD: They are books!
RICHARD: Books! Can you tell me what are they for?

ACT THREE
MINSTREL 2: One day a beautiful princess who liked to walk and discover new places was walking in the forest and got lost.
MINSTREL 3: She saw the gates of the castle and because she wasn’t frightened of anything she opened the door and walked around the palace.
MINSTREL 4: She went from room to room and come to Prince Richard’s room.
MINSTREL 1: Let’s see.
PRINCESS: Oh, he’s really handsome, who is he?
RICHARD: You are so beautiful! What’s your name?
PRINCESS: I’m princess Beauty, and you?
RICHARD: I’m prince Richard, crown prince of this Kingdom. Shall we go for a walk?
PRINCESS: Yes, I’d really like that, and then we can get to know each other… Do you like reading?
MINSTREL 2: How romantic!
MINSTREL 3: And of course, they all lived happily ever after!
